San Diego FC aimed to create a world-class training facility ahead of its inaugural MLS season. The project presented unique design challenges, including structural columns that disrupted the weight room layout. The facility needed to balance full-team training capacity with open space for functional movement and conditioning, all while coordinating multiple contractors and consultants.
PLAE led the design process, developing custom rack solutions that integrated the structural columns and maximized usable space. The facility features modular rack systems, recessed dumbbell storage for efficient flow, and dedicated areas for functional and cardio training. The bold aesthetic with natural light creates a professional environment that impresses players and staff while serving as a recruiting advantage.
